Why do People Fail at their Goals
Although most people understand that it's important to set goals for yourself, very rarely do people end up accomplishing them. There are a multitude of reasons why someone may not accomplish their goals, whether it's lack of dedication or fear. In order to successfully achieve your goals consider the following:
Never say Never
Doubt is your biggest enemy. Don't let doubt overcome your ability to achieve something. Even if you think you won't be able to successfully reach it or accomplish, you'll never know the outcome unless you try it. More often than none does the outcome end up being positive rather than negative like we previously thought. Work through those doubts by thinking of the positives, what happens if you do reach you goals? What then? How would your life change for the better?
No Commitment
Although most people say that they want to accomplish their goals the truth is, the majority of people fail to actually commit to their goals. Without commitment you can't guarantee that you'll actually work towards achieving your goal. In order to successfully execute, you have to make a promise to yourself that you're willing to put in the effort and commit to what it is you wish to accomplish.
Goal Overload
Be realistic about your goals. Although it's good to be ambitious, don't set yourself up for failure by creating too many goals for yourself. Aim for the ones that mean the most to you and that you really wish to accomplish. Everything else will fall into place at a later time. Committing to too many goals at once can also cause you to loose focus and not give your goals the attention that they need.
Failure to Plan
In order to start working towards your goals, you need to know where to start. Create a road map for yourself where you can track your progress and have a plan on what you will need to do in order to achieve your goal. Planning helps you stay organized and get on the right path towards completing your goal.
Scared of Change
Getting out of our comfort zone often brings us fear and anxiety. We tend to be scared of change and what it might bring us. Your goal may have to do with expanding your network, being more outgoing, moving to another city or state, or speaking in front of an audience. This can cause us fear especially when we are not familiar with the outcomes. The truth is you can't be scared of change. Change is happening around us every day and in order to grow you must undergo some type of change.
Motivation
Lack of motivation can be the ultimate goal killer. Motivation is what drives your actions. If you don't have motivation then it's going to be hard for you to start, work towards, and accomplish your goal. Find something that sparks your motivation and let that fuel your actions towards your goals and what you wish to accomplish in the long run.
